The main purpose of homework is to reinforce knowledge and classroom learning. The homework will be relevant to the learning needs of the individual child and should be completed within a realistic time frame.

Better Start Literacy Approach ‘BSLA’
In 2023 the Kiwi team (Rooms 18, 19, 20, and 21) at Pukete School implemented an enhancement to our reading curriculum called the Better Start Literacy Approach, BSLA. This approach has been developed in New Zealand by a team of experienced researchers from the University of Canterbury, following years of research on the best ways to support children’s early reading, writing, and oral language success. This initiative is being rolled throughout many schools across NZ and has proven exciting outcomes for our tamariki.
